On behalf of the organizing committee, I’d like to welcome you to Sasebo, Nagasaki for 2013 Annual Meeting of Society of Indoor Environment, Japan (SIEJ 2013), scheduled for December 5-6, 2013.
Since 1994, SIEJ has set down the diverse issues regarding the indoor environment and provided the solutions for them. SIEJ works on the problems of microorganisms, house dust, odor substances, ETS and the chemical substances that cause sick building syndrome for realizing a healthy indoor environment.
This year, air pollution due to PM2.5, yellow sand and smog and their impact on human health have been a big issue all through the nation. For that reason, we’ve set “Indoor Environment Today~Air pollution and its influence on the indoor environment” as the main theme of the meeting this year.
The venue for the meeting (Arkas SASEBO) is located in the urban distract of Sasebo, which is the westernmost city in the mainland Japan known for Saikai National Park Kujyukushima (ninety-nine islands) and Huis Ten Bosch. Sasebo is a city with an exotic atmosphere as it has developed with shipbuilding businesses and has established friendly relations with the US Naval Base in the city. You can enjoy the great varieties of fresh seafood, Sasebo Hamburgers and many other local foods during your stay in Sasebo.
We are looking forward to meeting many overseas participants exchanging new ideas with us.
