Policy for Accepting Applicants for Admission

Admissions Policy of Nagasaki International University (The types of applicants for admission that NIU wants to accept and provide with education)

To foster those who reflect NIU’s philosophy, NIU welcomes the following applicants for admission who understand and willingly accept the educational policies of NIU and are capable of proceeding actively with their learning:

  1. Those who have generally acquired the contents to be leaned at high school. However, depending on the department to be admitted to, deep understanding is particularly required in some additional fields.
  2. Those who have experience engaging in problem-solving activities in and out of school by using the knowledge and skills acquired through high school.
  3. Those who have experience addressing a social challenge through volunteer activities, etc.
  4. Those who have acquired knowledge from Japanese culture and books or wish to acquire such knowledge.
  5. Those who are enthusiastic to learn something in the faculty/department of their choice and wish to make use of the abilities and attitudes acquired therein in society.
  6. Those who can make efforts to improve their weak points even before entering university in order to smoothly proceed with their learning at university.

Faculty of Human and Social Studies, Department of International Tourism

Admissions Policy (The types of applicants for admission that our department wants to accept and provide with education)

 To foster those who reflect NIU’s philosophy, our department welcomes the following applicants for admission who understand and accept the educational policies of NIU and are capable of proceeding actively with their learning:

  1. Those who have widely acquired the contents to be leaned at high school. Accordingly, our department uses the subject stated in the “Guidelines for Applicants for Students” for a scholastic ability test of the entrant selective examination.
  2. Those who have experience engaging in problem-solving activities in and out of school by using the knowledge and skills acquired through high school.
  3. Those who have experience addressing a social challenge in and out of school through sports activities, cultural activities, volunteer activities, etc.
  4. Those who have acquired knowledge from Japanese culture and books or wish to acquire such knowledge.
  5. Those who are interested in the subject matters of the Department of International Tourism, such as the tourism industry/business, international exchange, contribution to local communities through sports and town development, and those who have a strong desire to make use of the abilities and attitudes acquired therein in society.
  6. Those who can make efforts to improve their weak points even before entering university in order to smoothly proceed with their learning at university.

Faculty of Human and Social Studies, Department of Social Work

Admissions Policy (The types of applicants for admission that our department wants to accept and provide with education)

 Taking the Admissions Policy of NIU into consideration as our basic spirit, in order to foster those who reflect the diploma policy of our department, we welcome the following applicants for admission who understand the educational policies of NIU and are capable of proceeding actively with their learning:

  1. Those who have generallyacquired the contents to be leaned at high school. Accordingly, our department uses the subject stated in the “Guidelines for Student Applicants” for a scholastic ability test of the entrant selective examination.
  2. Those who have experience addressing a challenge in cooperation with the adults and friends around them through class activities, club activities, volunteer activities, sports activities, etc.
  3. As for eagerness to learn, those who wish to study in such a manner as to build up their specialized base in social welfare that is to be lectured in our department or the related field thereof.
  4. As for future dreams, those who have a clear future plan for their life in such a manner as to aim to work for a welfare-related organization or a private corporation or become a government employee.
  5. Those who wish to be transferred from a junior college or technical school or switch over to any other new academic field.
  6. Adult student applicants are welcome from various quarters. Those who wish to make use of their social experience in the future for the revitalization of the international and regional community.
  7. Those who can make efforts to improve their weak points even before entering university in order to smoothly proceed with their learning at university.

Faculty of Health Management, Department of Health and Nutrition

Admissions Policy (The types of applicants for admission that our department wants to accept and provide with education)

  2. Those who have experience engaging in problem-solving activities by using the knowledge and skills acquired through high school.
  3. Those who have experience addressing a social challenge in and out of school through volunteer activities, etc.
  4. Those who can make strenuous efforts to improve their weak points even before entering university and, without being daunted by failure, try to improve themselves.
  5. Those who are interested in incidents relating to food and health and the specialist personnel involved therein and have a strong desire to act as a national registered dietitian by making use of the abilities and attitudes acquired at university.

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmacy

Admissions Policy (The types of applicants for admission that our department wants to accept and provide with education)

 To foster medical care personnel (pharmacists) who understand the basic principle of NIU, “Respect for Humanity,” our department welcomes students who not only understand the educational policies of NIU and take care of their health including nonsmoking as a future promising health-care provider but also proceed actively with learning.
 In addition, in the learning process after entering university, as there are three fundamental fields of pharmacy, i.e., chemical pharmacy, biological pharmacy and physical pharmacy, it is important to learn the basics of “chemistry,” “biology” and “physics” in advance. Accordingly, to make learning at university smooth, it is necessary to make efforts even before entering university to maintain or improve scholastic ability.

  2. Those who are considerate of others and capable of rendering service to society through volunteer activities, extracurricular activities, etc.
  3. Those who are capable of paying attention to the opinions of others around them and taking action cooperatively.
  4. Those who have a strong will and desire for improvement to continue learning incessantly, which are indispensable in the remarkably-progressing medical world.
  5. Those who are interested and motivated in contributing to community-based healthcare.
  6. Those who wish to make use of the knowledge and abilities acquired at university for the development of medical care.

  • Those who wish to be a highly professional specialist or researcher that serves as a pillar of tourism development and the tourism industry.
  • Those who have a strong will to exert specialized abilities as a leader of the international and regional community.
  • Those who wish to acquire both theoretical and practical specialized abilities relating to the tourism industry and town development.

The Master’s Course in Social Work welcomes the following applicants from various quarters:

  • Those who intend to continue advanced studies and wish to be a welfare specialist capable of taking initiative in future social welfare practices.

The Doctoral Course in Regional Management welcomes the following applicants from various quarters:

  • Those who wish to serve as a leader of new town development.
  • Those who wish to be a manager/operator of tourism-related facilities and/or social work-related operations.
  • Those who wish to be a government employee that is required to have theoretical knowledge and practical skills in terms of regional management.
  • Those who wish to be a researcher that is capable of providing effective support for regional management.

The Master’s Course in Health and Nutrition welcomes the following applicants from various quarters:

  • Those who wish to acquire the knowledge and skills relating to human health management based on nutrition science and related fields and become a highly professional specialist, educator or researcher capable of contributing to society.
  • Those who wish to acquire, on the basis of the principle of Respect for Humanity, highly practical abilities relating to human health management based on nutrition science and related fields.

Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Doctoral Course in Clinical and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Admissions Policy

The Doctoral Course in Clinical and Pharmaceutical Sciences welcomes the following applicants from various quarters:

  • Personnel who, having deep expertise, are capable of acquiring a pharmaceutical way of thinking, logical and advanced methodology or evaluation capabilities.
  • Personnel who wish to take the initiative in various fields of a wide range of basic and clinical science to be covered by pharmacy on the basis of advanced knowledge and research capabilities and contribute to the regional and international community in the future.
  • Personnel who wish to be excellent leading medical pharmacy researchers (such as home medical care researchers, cancer/pain relief researchers, formulation researchers, preventive pharmacy researchers, or medical care administration researchers) that have practical research capabilities in the fields of advanced medical care, medical care administration, or post-marketing development.
