2 Description

(1)Primary Duties:
Education, research, social contribution, and student guidance/advising.

(2)Courses to be Taught:

Undergraduate Courses
(Department of International Tourism)
International Tourism, Overseas Tourism Resources, Travel Business Expert II A・II B, History of Tourism, Practical Overseas Travel, Specialized Seminars I A – III B, Graduation Research, and other related courses.
General Education Courses First-Year Seminar (Hospitality Seminar, Liberal Arts Seminar), and other relevant subjects.
Graduate School Courses Advanced Studies in Tourism Management, Advanced Studies in Travel Business, and other related subjects.

Department of International Tourism, Faculty of Human and Social Studies

3.Requirements

  1. Possess a doctoral or master’s degree or have equivalent research achievements.
  2. Be capable of providing education and student guidance in the field of tourism studies. Practical experience in tourism-related industries—such as airlines, travel agencies, or related sectors—is highly desirable.
  3. Demonstrate exemplary character, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal skills, and be highly motivated to engage in education and student guidance.
  4. Must be able to reside in Sasebo City or its vicinity after appointment.
  5. In accordance with Article 8 of the Equal Employment Opportunity Law, and in order to improve the current situation where the ratio of female faculty members is significantly low, female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

4.Contract period

The appointment is for a fixed term of three years. After the completion of the initial term, renewal of the contract andpromotion may be possible upon review.
Probationary period present.
The probationary period shall be one year from the date of employment.

Applicants are requested to submit the following documents (in four sets, one original and three copies, unless otherwise specified):

  1. Curriculum Vitae (with photo attached) — Use the prescribed form (Word format)
  2. List of Research Achievements, including records of competitive external research funding — Use the prescribed form(Word format)
  3. Offprints or copies of up to five major publications.
  4. Summary of educational and research achievements (approximately 2,000 Words).
  5. Statement of educational and research goals at Nagasaki International University (approximately 2,000 Words). 1 copy
  6. Letter of Recommendation addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Studies. 1 copy

8.Selection process

First Screening : Document review.
Second Screening : Applicants who pass the first screening will be invited to Nagasaki International University for the second screening.

The second screening will consist of a mock lesson (approximately 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session) and an interview. During the mock lesson and interview, candidates are expected to present their educational philosophy, research achievements in their field of specialization, and an outline of their prospective research activities at the university.

All travel and accommodation expenses related to the second screening shall be borne by the applicant. The second screening is scheduled to be held by early December.
However, depending on the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the interview and mock lesson (including the presentation of research overview) may be conducted remotely via Zoom.

9.Notification of Results

  • The results of the first screening will be announced by Friday, November 21, 2025.
  • The results of the second screening are scheduled to be notified by Friday, December 26, 2025.
