Nagasaki International University seeks Professor, Associate Professor, Lecturer, or Assistant Professor in Information Technology field as core faculty members. Faculty of Cyber Science, Department of Information Design scheduled to open in April 2027.
Nagasaki International University will establish the Faculty of Cyber Science, Department of Information Design in April 2027.
The department aims to develop professionals equipped with advanced knowledge and skills in advanced ICT fields through a three-course structure consisting of the AI and Data Science Course, the Social Design (Interdisciplinary) Course, and the Information Creative Course.
In the first and second years, students will complete a common curriculum of specialized subjects, including programming, which form the foundation of information engineering. Through this, they will acquire mathematical thinking skills and practical technical competencies. From the third year onward, students will transition to specialized education in their respective courses, forming a systematic and step-by-step curriculum structure.

4 Qualifications
- Applicants must hold a doctoral or master’s degree, or possess equivalent research achievements or professional experience. Practitioners with substantial industry experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Applicants must have experience in at least one of the following areas—education, research, or professional practice—in fields such as information engineering/computer science, data science, data engineering, social informatics, media informatics, or related disciplines. Applicants should demonstrate strong commitment to student supervision and education. In particular, candidates should be able to teach multiple subjects listed under the Departmental Specialized Courses above and be willing to actively engage in project-based learning (PBL).
- Applicants must have outstanding research achievements or professional accomplishments, and possess sound judgment, and a collaborative attitude, with a demonstrated willingness to engage in interdisciplinary and practice-oriented education.
- Applicants of all nationalities are welcome; however, sufficient Japanese language proficiency for lectures and administrative duties is required.
- Appointees must be able to reside in Sasebo City or its vicinity after appointment. (Faculty housing is available near the university.)

Notes
- The appointment is, in principle, scheduled to commence on April 1, 2027. As it is necessary to finalize the faculty organization in the course of the application process for approval of establishment to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the successful candidate will be required to submit a letter of acceptance (informal consent to appointment) by around mid-June 2026. The position is offered on a fixed-term basis for four years (with the possibility of a tenure-track appointment). Contract renewal and promotion may be granted based on performance. The appointment includes a one-year probationary period.
- ・1st Screening: Document review
・2nd Screening: For those passing 1st screening, conducted at the university, scheduled by mid-June. Includes interview and 20-minute mock lecture (research overview presentation) followed by 5-minute Q&A. Applicants bear travel expenses. For remote locations or scheduling difficulties, interview and mock lecture may be conducted remotely via Zoom upon consultation. - As a general rule, submitted documents will not be returned. However, upon request, offprints listed under item (3) “Reprints of Papers” in the submitted documents will be returned. In such cases, please enclose a prepaid return shipping label (e.g., Yu-Pack cash-on-delivery label or Letter Pack).
